Avoid Inline Scroll Areas (50% Get it Wrong) (Christian Holst)
During our recent large scale usability study of e-commerce navigation inline scroll areas were found to cause a myriad of usability issues. Whenever a section scrolled independently from the rest of the page, the test subjects ran into several low-level interaction issues along with some more fundamental conceptual difficulties.
