I was not a great laboratory technician. Some days I was so bored doing exactly the same thing that I would experiment with different ways of doing it. Good thing that I worked in a research laboratory and my playing around was useful. For most jobs, the traits necessary to be an outstanding entry-level worker are not the traits necessary to become an outstanding manager.
